Gruhak Bio

Gruhak {'gruha:k} is seriously talented Classic Rock band from Dubrovnik, Croatia. In the local slang the word “gruhak” means a loud and obtrusive person. Classic Rock should be loud, but in this band’s opinions it should also be musically and stylistically refined and with well defined roots and form. Novelty, posing, attitude, does not interest them, the music in itself should be enough. The band of musicians needs that extra ingredient that is difficult to define, but you know that when you have it, the whole is more then the sum of the individuals. Gruhak have been lucky in that respect, probably because they came into being spontaneously out of the enthusiasm for music.

Genre and influences:

Gruhak is primarily a Classic Rock live band. However, they are extremely versatile and are able to produce material for much wider audiences also. Influences: early black blues - early rock n roll - British blues rock - sixties and seventies supergroups.

Sounds like: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Doors, The Who, Rory Gallagher, Joe Cocker, Free, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Allman Brothers Band, The Rolling Stones. People who did not hear Gruhak live will find this difficult to believe, but when playing covers they really sound exactly like, or very close to all of the above great bands in turn.

Experience and accomplishments:

This band has superb musical, songwriting, composing, arranging, producing, sound engineering and live performance talent and experience. In the present line-up they have played for 5 years at more than 200 shows. Their live shows are dynamic and engaging, audiences do not let them leave the stage. After achieving a near cult status on Youtube as “the worlds best cover band” they have now produced their own material and are looking for label and management deal in USA and UK.

Cover band period:

Gruhak started as a cover band and have covered around 100 songs by some 10 different Classic Rock bands. Gained audience on Youtube exclusively by the quality of the material, without any solicitation. By all accounts, the ratio of engagement per view count is higher for Gruhak than for any other rock act on Youtube. It is general opinion of Youtube audience that Gruhak covers are: " best covers ever on Youtube"

Own material and change of direction:

After receiving exceptionally good comments and invitations on Youtube, by the audiences from USA and UK, Gruhak decided to make their own music. Composed, arranged and produced 10 of their own songs in the Classic Rock genre. They write in the World English and sing in Anglo-American accent without a hint of foreign accent. Have written 10 more songs, now in production. Quality of demo material is such that Gruhak are now confident to engage with major labels and artist management outfits.

Gruhak’s greatest strengths:

All band members are superbly talented and work exceptionally well together. However, the singer is truly a force of nature. As you will hear, he is pitch-perfect at full vocal range and volume with amazingly versatile harmonic color to his voice. As well as singing lows at full range he also sings high notes without breaking into falsetto. It was said by many that their vocalist Boris is the worlds best rock singer at present.

Luksa Mirocevic - Drums, arranging.

Future:

Gruhak are now working to generate some following for themselves in UK by the end of 2009. They want to play some small gigs in UK to gain confidence with western audiences and attract more attention of labels and artist management companies. They think the best further exposure would be as support act for major rock band. With the support of label and management they would then polish the existing own material and issue a CD for the world market. Eventually Gruhak wants to play rock festivals and become a touring band. The live show potential of this band is enormous. They can hold full attention of the audience for hours and are confident to step on the world stage.
